Edmodo
I use edmodo as my primary means of communication with you individually and as a class. Each student is required to sign up for the edmodo page dedicated to the chorus class(es) on your schedules. You are responsible for checking edmodo frequently and regularly. If you miss an important announcement about classwork or an upcoming rehearsal because you didn’t check edmodo, that is your responsibility entirely. I suggest you adjust your settings so that you are notified when a teacher posts something to edmodo as you would a text or an email. Yes, it's that important! There will be some assignments which will be conducted via edmodo, but due to the nature of our performance-based class, they will be sporadic.
Parents are invited to join edmodo using the parent codes only so that you too can be included on updates as they occur. You'll be able to see information as it gets added as well as assignments and their due dates. By using the parent code, it ensures that a parent doesn't inadvertently wind up on my edmodo class list...parents who wind up on the student list will be held responsible for turning in assignments on time (that's a joke). Therefore I suggest taking care to be sure parents use the parent codes and students use the student codes. Parents are not given group codes, they are to obtain the parent code from their student's edmodo account. (This will also give parents access to all edmodo pages their students have joined.) See below for instructions for parents to get savvy with edmodo.
There will also be an edmodo page for the men's chorus. However, because this ensemble is extra circular (not for a grade) the men's chorus edmodo page will serve primarily as a communication device for us to use in lieu of email chains, text blasts, snap chats, or Facebook posts. Parents of members of the men's chorus may also join using the parent code, but they shouldn't expect to see any assignments or grades.

Find a Student's Parent Code
Every student has a unique Parent Code that their parent can use to create a parent account that will be linked to the specific student account. This is not a group code. The parent code for an individual student can be found in two ways: A Parent or Student can find an individual's parent code by:
Mr. Abrams can also find an individual's parent code if you're having trouble. Just ask! |
